Mechanical Failures Hinder Promising Weekend
(Macon, IL) Osman Racing was able to make it to two different tracks this past weekend, but experienced part failures at both, turning a promising weekend into a disappointing one.
Friday night, the team made their first ever trip to the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL. The night started out well as the car was very fast in hot laps but the hope of a good run would run short as they experienced carburetor problems before the heat race and were forced to miss it, relegating them to a 17th place starting spot in the feature. The carburetor was fixed, the problem was diagnosed as the float valve being stuck open, and they made their way out to the track for the feature. The race went fairly uneventful and Osman Racing made their way up to 7th from their 17th place starting position before spinning out on the last lap, relegating them to a 12th place finish.
Saturday night brought Osman Racing to the "Mighty" Macon Speedway for the second time this year. The night didn't exactly start off the way they had hoped as they discovered that the left front upper control arm was bent. The problem was fixed, and they made their way out to the track for heat race action. Starting 2nd, They were able to get a decent jump and the lead but would not be able to hold onto it for very long. They ended up finishing in the 4th position, garnering them a12th place starting spot for the feature. At the drop of the green flag, they could tell that something was amiss. After 10 or so laps of stagnant racing, something went terribly awry. Knowing something was wrong, Greg (Osman), driver of the Osman Racing Chevrolet Malibu, pulled to the infield, settling for a 16th place finish. It was later discovered that the problem was in the transmission but at the time of release it was still not known exactly what the problem in the transmission was.
Osman Racing is looking to get the problem fixed as soon as they can and may be returning to Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL but all details for the rest of the year are tentative at this point.
